Manchester United fans react as Cristiano Ronaldo picks up Premier League Player of the Month award for September
As per the official Twitter account of Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has picked up the Premier League Player of the Month award for September after his incredible performances.
The 36-year-old signed for the Old Trafford outfit in a shock move on deadline day from Juventus for €23million (including add-ons). However, the Portuguese did not take any time to adjust to the league he left in 2009.
His fitness levels and desire to do well was always going to be a huge factor in him succeeding in one of the toughest leagues in the world. After signing at the end of August, Ronaldo was immediately available for selection for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and was fielded against Newcastle United post the international break.
The club legend started his second stint like he ended his first one –with goals. The Portuguese bagged a brace on his ‘second debut’ for the club.
The former Juventus man continued his goal-scoring form against West Ham as well, as he bagged the first goal on the day. Although he failed to find the back of the net against Aston Villa in United’s last league game of September, 3 goals in 3 games was enough for the 36-year-old to be named the Premier League Player of the Month.
While goals from other competitions do not factor into this award, the centre-forward also found the back of the net against Young Boys and Villarreal in the UEFA Champions League, with the latter being a last-minute winner at Old Trafford.
Thus, with the Portuguese international in unbelievable form, Solskjaer will be hoping his star man keeps it up as the club enter a tough fixture schedule.
Let us now see how some of the fans reacted on Twitter to Ronaldo winning the accolade.
