Transfer News: Manchester United could move for Max Aarons in the January transfer window

According to Norfolk Live, Manchester United could be about to rekindle their interest in Norwich City’s gifted young right-back Max Aarons.

The Red Devils made a number of high profile purchases in the summer transfer window. However, they failed to bring in a new right-back after their efforts to sign Kieran Trippier fell short.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer currently has both Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot at his behest. However, he is looking for options to strengthen his side in the position. While a new right-back is not a priority, the club could do with a player who can keep Wan-Bissaka on his toes.

Wan-Bissaka remains the Red Devils’ first-choice right-back. However, he has had a mixed season so far. A red card in United’s Champions League opener against Young Boys proved to be an especially poor moment.

Dalot, to his credit, has been decent. It is, however, debatable if he has it in him to challenge Wan-Bissaka for the starting spot. Bringing in someone who can prove to be the solution is something the club should look at.

The 21-year-old Aarons is, despite his age, an experienced player with 137 senior appearances for the Canaries. Aarons was a two-time nominee for the EFL Team of the Year and was also the EFL Young Player of the Year for the 2019/20 season. Clearly, he is a player who can only get better.

According to the report, United are also monitoring a number of other alternatives. This includes Rangers duo James Tavernier and Nathan Patterson. Aarons does, however, prove to be a safer bet given his prior experience in the English top flight.
