Transfer News: Agent claims teams have approached Darwin Nunez amidst Manchester United interest
As quoted by FC Inter News (h/t Metro), the agent of Darwin Nunez has claimed that top-level teams have made contact regarding a deal for his client amidst interest from Manchester United.
The Red Devils are one of several clubs linked with the 22-year-old wonderkid. Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Inter Milan are also keeping tabs on the SL Benfica man.
Nunez signed for Benfica in September 2020 for a club-record £20.5million. But with his contract at Estadio da Luz expiring only in 2025, his agent Edgardo Lasalvia claims that the player’s focus remains on the job at hand in Portugal.
“Darwin is ready to play for any team on the planet. Various top-level teams have contacted us but, for the moment, he is concentrating on continuing and growing with Benfica and with the Uruguayan national team. This is how important things will come in the future.”
The voyage of the Eagle
Nunez is adept at manning the left flank but can also play on the other wing as well as down the middle. He was at his goal-scoring best against Barcelona last month
The Uruguayan starlet struck twice as The Eagles ran rampant against the La Liga giants and such performances are guaranteed to raise eyebrows and attract some sort of interest.
United would not have a clear path to signing Nunez and that isn’t something they should be expecting themselves as well. The youngster is impressing a lot for his age and still has a few years left until he enters his prime.
