As confirmed by the English League on Twitter, Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.

The 36-year-old has scored three goals in three Premier League games so far, leaving United to two wins. This has seen them keep in touch with Liverpool at the top of the table.

Ronaldo is one of six players up for the award. The others in the fray are Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo, Chelsea’s Antonio Rudiger, Allan Saint-Maximin of Newcastle United, Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr.

Ronaldo has won the award four times before. A win this month will see him equal former Red Devils stars Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie on five.

United also hold three nominations out of eight in the Premier League Goal of the Month award. Jesse Lingard’s strikes against Newcastle United and West Ham United make the cut while Bruno Fernandes’ strike against the former is also in the fray.

Others nominated are Liverpool’s Naby Keita, Aston Villa star Matty Cash, Arsenal ace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Chelsea star Romelu Lukaku and Everton’s Andros Townsend.
