Sir Alex Ferguson explains how Manchester United were never interested in former Inter Milan star Wesley Sneijder
Speaking in the exclusive UTD Podcast Blockbuster Episode (h/t ManUtd.com), former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that the club were never interested in former Inter Milan ace Wesley Sneijder.
The 79-year-old United legend led the Red Devils through several years of success before hanging up his managerial boots in 2013, after lifting the club’s 13th Premier League trophy.
In his time at Old Trafford, Ferguson signed some of the best players in the world, including the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, Roy Keane, Wayne Rooney, while he was a huge part of the promotion of the class of 92 to the senior team.
However, one player they were linked with but never made the move was Wesley Sneijder. The Dutch international was one of the most outstanding attacking midfielders of his time and played a huge role in winning the treble in 2010 with Inter Milan.
While he was linked with a move to the Manchester-based club, Ferguson has now revealed that there never really was any interest towards the attacker. The 79-year-old told Sam Homewood in the exclusive UTD Podcast Blockbuster Episode (h/t ManUtd.com):
“That’s come up a lot of times, but we were never interested in Sneijder. I don’t know where that came from, but you get a lot of them. Every Sunday, in The People, when I first came, they were throwing names in all the time, you know.”
