Manchester United set to hold closed-doors match to boost recovery of Marcus Rashford

According to The Athletic (h/t Metro), Manchester United are set to hold a closed-doors friendly to boost the match-fitness of Marcus Rashford.

The 23-year-old striker has had a drained-out recovery process ever since he underwent shoulder surgery at the start of August. The Englishman was playing through an injury last season for United and even went ahead to represent England at the Euros.

However, after the Three Lions lost to Italy in the final of the competition, Rashford returned to United’s training complex, and it was decided that he would undergo surgery on his shoulder.

It was always claimed that it would take nearly 12 weeks for the youngster to be available for selection again, and the due process has been followed. Rashford returned to light training last month itself and has been put through the paces this month.

The 23-year-old also put out a tweet on his official account on Monday addressing his recovery process and hoping that he would be allowed to join contract training soon.

Thus, the striker is doing everything in his power to return as early as possible, and it looks like Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. are going to play their part in this process now. A friendly is being arranged during the international break next month to help Rashford boost his match fitness as he looks to make a return against Leicester City on the 16th of October.
