Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has taken to Twitter to provide a promising update on his return to training this season.

The Red Devils ace is currently recovering from a shoulder surgery he underwent following his stint with England at this summer’s Euros. He is yet to feature for United this campaign.

Rashford’s absence continues to be felt as United put in Jekyll and Hyde performances week in week out. His return cannot come sooner for a team still coming to terms with their new-look squad.

The 23-year-old has now confirmed that he is set to meet up with a doctor for a consultation on Friday. If all goes well, he will be given the green light to return to contact training soon.

This will mark an important step in the Englishman’s road to recovery. Rashford is seeking to return to action next month for our crunch tie against Liverpool at Old Trafford. A positive update this week could put him in line to do just that.

Both teams look set to be involved in this season’s title race. The match on 24 October promises to be a six-pointer where tempers could fly. Rashford has faced off against the Merseysiders on 11 occasions, scoring five goals and assisting one more

The Englishman was United’s second top scorer last season. His return will give United an alternative to the underperforming Jadon Sancho. It will also help take the weight off Cristiano Ronaldo to score goals.

It is heartening to see that Rashford is not being rushed back into action. The forward has been a constant figure in the United first team for the past few years and has admittedly been overplayed at times. Better late than sorry.
