Jesse Lingard, Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba and Luke Shaw all could be in line for new Manchester United contract
According to the reliable journalist, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Manchester United appears to be ready to offer new deals to four players.
The Red Devils enjoyed a brilliant summer that saw them bring in Raphael Varane, Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo. United’s focus now appears to be to retain the services of the players who were already at Old Trafford.
This includes the quartet of Jesse Lingard, Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba. The latter three can be considered as the first XI material while Lingard is an excellent player to rotate.
Romano goes on to reveal that the club is currently embroiled in talks with Lingard. The club is in talks with the player and his father for the past few weeks regarding a new deal.
Lingard is far from a first-choice player. However, he has shown his worth of late and provides Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with excellent strength in depth. Perhaps to illustrate the point, the 28-year-old came off the bench to win the game for United against West Ham United on Sunday.
As things stand Lingard has already rejected United’s opening offer. The club for their part, remain keen and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is also taking an initiative in proceedings.
Lingard has one year left on his current deal. He has done a good job of reminding the world at large about his qualities. The Red Devils must act fast if they are to renew his stay at the club.
Another player in a similar predicament is Pogba. The Frenchman’s deal is also up in the summer of 2022. Another player in his prime and also United’s most expensive purchase until today, the Frenchman remains a key cog of Solskjaer’s side.
