Contract News: Manchester United are ready to break the bank for Paul Pogba
According to The Sun (h/t The Express), Manchester United are ready to make Paul Pogba the highest-paid Premier League player of all time by offering him a new mega-contract.
The Frenchman has entered into the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and the midfielder is yet to sign an extension with the club. While PSG and Real Madrid are circling around for the 28-year-old’s signature, the player’s agent Mino Raiola has also hinted about a potential move to Juventus.
Thus, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Pogba’s future, and if the Manchester-based club cannot agree on a new deal with the French international before January, he would be eligible to talk to foreign parties and also sign a pre-contract agreement. This would see the midfielder leave the Red Devils on a free transfer next summer.
While that would be the case if a new contract was not signed, things seem to have changed slightly, as United are now ready to take a huge step in negotiations.
The Old Trafford outfit are set to offer Pogba a new deal at the club, which would be worth £400,000-per-week. Over the course of a five-year deal, this contract would be worth up to £104million, making him the highest paid-Premier League player of all time, according to The Sun (h/t The Express).
This would be a huge statement of intent from the club, and given that they made incredible additions to their side this summer, they would be keen on retaining their best players.
