Wayne Rooney gives glowing verdict of Manchester United loanee Tahith Chong

According to the press conference reported by Birmingham Live (h/t United in Focus), Wayne Rooney has showered praises on young Manchester United loanee Tahith Chong.

Chong has been impressive at the start of the season for Birmingham and has already notched up 2 assists for them in 4 Championship games. Chong was also on the scoresheet in pre-season for Manchester United against Derby County.

In the interview, Rooney said (h/t United in Focus)

“He’s a very talented player, he played against us in pre-season and yeah, he’s an impact player, he has good moments in the game.”

The 21-year-old has had a good start to his spell with Birmingham. He has made his way through the United academy and has proved to be a dependable option. The youngster had a loan spell in Germany last season but it didn’t quite work out the way everyone would have wanted it to.

Chong’s style of play may come off as a bit chaotic and unrefined but there is a lot of potential in there. The right senior club where he fits well could do wonders for the youngster.

Even the midlands manager Lee Bowyer is impressed with the youngster’s performance. In an interview after their 5-0 victory over Lutton, he said

“It is beautiful for me to watch and for supporters – whether he’s on your team or not. He’s a talented boy and he’s learning”
