Wes Morgan believes Manchester United ace always had the talent to make it to the top

According to an interview done on Talk Sport (h/t HITC), Wes Morgan explained that he is not surprised that Manchester United ace Harry Maguire is one the best defenders in England today.

Maguire, who played alongside Morgan at Leicester City for a couple of years, signed for the Old Trafford outfit in 2019. Since then, the 28-year-old has gone on to make 110 appearances for the Red Devils while he was also a crucial part of the team that reached the Europa League final in 2019 as well as 2020.

Morgan talked about the Englishman’s talent and how he always knew a big club would sign the 28-year-old.

He told Talk Sport (h/t HITC):

“Harry’s been in the game for a while, and when he joined Leicester he kicked on to another level, to a point where I remember saying to myself that he’s probably too good for us. I wasn’t surprised that a big, big club came in for him.

“He’s kept his high standards and his high-levels up and his impressive form for Man United and for England. I’m not surprised, I knew he had the capabilities”.

Maguire’s performances over the last couple of years have also led to him being the starting centre-back at the Old Trafford outfit, which in turn have also led to him being a starter under Gareth Southgate in the England squad as well.

Last season, Maguire played a key role in leading United to a 2nd place finish in the Premier League, while the 28-year-old will be hoping to achieve some silverware this year alongside 4-time Champions League winner Raphael Varane, as the pair will look to keep a solid defence.
