Manchester United could lose Jesse Lingard in the winter transfer window
According to Todo Fichajes (h/t Caught Offside), West Ham United will try to sign Manchester United fringe player Jesse Lingard again in the January transfer window after a failed summer move.
The 28-year-old, who fell out of favour with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the first half of last season, agreed on a loan deal with the East London outfit for the second half of the 2020/21 season. David Moyes had faith in the fact that Lingard could regain some of his old form, and the Englishman provided rich returns.
The 28-year-old managed to score 9 goals and provide 5 assists in 16 appearances for the Hammers as he helped them secure a 6th place finish in the Premier League table, ahead of the likes of Tottenham & Arsenal.
The winger’s great performances led to Gareth Southgate naming him in the 33-man provisional squad for the Euros. Although he did not make the cut for the final squad, it would have been a huge confidence booster for the Englishman.
Lingard then returned to United’s Carrington complex this summer for pre-season and in the hope of gaining more game-time at Old Trafford. However, things have not gone according to plan. The winger suffered the Covid-19 disease while United have also signed the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo & Jadon Sancho.
Thus, West Ham were trying to sign the 28-year-old again this summer, but a deal never materialized for the same.

However, the Hammers will go down fighting for the player’s signature as they are ready to go back in for him in the winter transfer window, according to Todo Fichajes (h/t Caught Offside).
Lingard could ‘find out’ where he fits in Solskjaer’s plans by that point, but it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will sanction a deal for the Englishman in January.
