Manchester United fans react as Bruno Fernandes is nominated for PL award
According to the official Twitter account of the Premier League, Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes has been nominated for the Premier League Goal of the Month award for August.
The Portuguese has been listed as one of the eight nominees for this prestigious award after his sublime goal in the season opener against Leeds United. The Red Devils had gone into the game without Edinson Cavani, who was their main centre-forward last year, however, the 26-year-old did not let the fans miss the Uruguayan one bit.
The Portuguese opened the scoring on the day with a calm left-foot chip over the goalkeeper. His second goal was also a great portrayal of disguise as he shifted the ball onto his left foot to put it in the back of the net.
However, the pick of the bunch had to be the third goal, and a lot of the credit also goes down to Victor Lindelof, who delivered an incredible asset. The Swede curved the ball from the half line into the path of Fernandes, who continued with his run and then shot the ball into the roof of the net to complete his sublime hat-trick. United ended the day with a 5-1 victory with goals also from Mason Greenwood and Fred.
Ironically enough, in the same Leeds United defender Luke Ayling also scored a screamer from outside the box, courtesy of which his strike is also nominated for the Goal of the Month.
Apart from Fernandes and Ayling, Aston Villa’s John McGinn and Danny Ings, Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy, Leeds United’s Raphinha, and Manchester City’s Rodri have also been nominated for the award.
Let us now see how some of the United fans reacted to Bruno Fernandes being nominated for the honour.
