Manchester United fans react to Victor Lindelof’s brilliant performance against Spain

Manchester United defender and Sweden’s new captain, Victor Lindelof, led his team to an incredible victory against Spain last night.

The 27-year-old has been an immense figure for the national side ever since his debut in 2016 but made history yesterday. The Swedes were brilliant on the night as they defeated Spain, a nation which, before yesterday, had not lost a World Cup qualifier for 28 years

It looked like Spain were going to maintain the record in the starting minutes itself as Carlos Soler slammed in a goal in the 4th minute itself. However, the Swedes were not going to back down from the challenge as they immediately replied through an incredible goal by their centre-forward Alexander Isak.

The Swedes were not done there as they continued to keep attacking while Victor Lindelof, who captained the Swedes for the first time in his international career, marshalled the defence sublimely.

Sweden scored their 2nd goal after Dejan Kulusevski provided a well-placed assist to Viktor Claesson, who hit a good low shot in the corner. However, Lindelof was one of the biggest stars on the day as the Manchester United man, alongside Filip Helander, oozed confidence.

This would do a world of good to the 27-year-old, who could now lose his starting spot at Old Trafford to summer signing Raphael Varane. To break a 28-year-old record is no mean feat, especially when it comes to a heavyweight like Spain, that boasts of incredible talents in the frontline.

However, Lindelof did not let Alvaro Morata, Ferran Torres, or Gerard Moreno score past him on the day. Let us now see how Manchester United fans reacted on Twitter to Lindelof’s incredible performance against the 2010 FIFA World Cup winners.
