Jamie Redknapp feels Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to win trophies this season
In an interview with Sky Sports News (h/t The Metro), Jamie Redknapp insisted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will need to drive Manchester United to success this season.
The Red Devils, who have signed the likes of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, have strengthened heavily and now have one of the most well-stacked squads in the Premier League. The Old Trafford outfit now boast seven forwards in their ranks, namely Cristiano Ronaldo, Mason Greenwood, Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Jadon Sancho, and Jesse Lingard.
Although that is a good thing, Jamie Redknapp pointed out that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will face a huge problem in managing the playing time amongst all the first-team stars.
He told Sky Sports News (h/t Metro):
“Ronaldo going back to Manchester United, it’s nostalgic, it’s amazing. The other side of it is that he’s 36. How does Ole fit him in? Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has got such a big job to keep everybody happy.”
Redknapp also explained how the Norwegian boss will be under pressure to win silverware this year.
“That brings tremendous pressure because now, not having won anything at Manchester United, he has to win something. Ole now, as excited as he is, this will bring a lot of sleepless nights trying to keep everybody happy in that football club.”

The Red Devils finished 2nd in the Premier League last season while they lost the Europa League final. Moreover, the club have not won the league title since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013, while they have not won any silverware since 2017.
Solskjaer will be done with nearly 3 and a half years at the club at the end of the current season, and the Norwegian will be hoping to win some silverware this year, especially after he re-signed a serial winner in Cristiano Ronaldo on deadline day.
