Donny van de Beek might just have a future at Manchester United
According to an interview done on Voetbal International (h/t The Sun), the agent of Donny van de Beek has revealed that the 24-year-old has been promised more game-time at Manchester United this season.
Van de Beek, who made the switch from AFC Ajax to United in a move worth £39million in the summer of 2020, has failed to feature consistently for the Red Devils.
Van de Beek made only four Premier League starts to the Dutchman last season, with Manchester United using the likes of Scott McTominay, Paul Pogba, Fred, Bruno Fernandes and Nemanja Matic regularly ahead of him. He is yet to make an appearance in the new season as well.
This led to the player angling for a move away from the club this summer. However, Ole & Gunnar Solskjaer & co. blocked the 24-year-old’s exit as they felt the Dutch star still has a future at the club, something confirmed by Van de Beek’s agent, Guido Albers.
Albers spoke about his client’s situation in an interview to Voetbal International (h/t The Sun), saying:
“There was a lot of interest from Italy, Germany, and England, so that looked good. But you need the cooperation of the club, and it looked like they would, but ultimately they didn’t”.
Albers went on to reveal that the Old Trafford outfit have guaranteed Van de Beek increased playing time this season.
“Disappointing, but also assuring for him so that he will get his chance, and will get his minutes, but this will become clear in due time. He’s been promised that before, but we came to a clear agreement about this with the club, so we have all faith that it will happen now.”

This could be good news for the Dutchman as he would be hoping to start more games for the club rather than being brought off the bench. However, only time will tell whether the Red Devils do manage to provide some consistent game-time for the 24-year-old this season.
