Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stops Manchester United outcast Donny van de Beek from joining Everton on loan
According to Football Oranje (h/t The Express), Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer blocked a late loan bid from Everton for Donny van de Beek.
Having landed Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, the Red Devils have enjoyed a brilliant summer. This afforded them to have a quiet final day that saw no more additions come in.
Van de Beek, however, came close to leaving for Everton on deadline day, only for Solskjaer to block the move. A surprising move since that the Norwegian has been unable to coax the best out of the midfielder.
According to the report, van de Beek was ready to leave United following a disappointing season at the Theatre of Dreams. Solskjaer, however, was having none of it, especially with little to no time left in the window.
The player’s agent, Guido Albers is unhappy with United’s stance and has since openly vented his frustration. He went on to add that the Red Devils are not cooperating and are playing spoilsport in the whole affair.
Van de Beek was one of Europe’s best young midfielders while at Ajax Amsterdam. Although he scored on his United debut, he has failed to hold onto a starting spot. The Dutchman is yet to feature for the club this season.
At 24, van de Beek must be playing regularly but that is far from the case at United. While his presence does offer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer strength in depth, it largely impacts his development as a player. The Norwegian has shown an inability to get the best out of van de Beek.
