“Really good for him”- Some Man United fans react as 20-year-old starlet secures loan exit

Manchester United fans react as academy ace D’Mani Mellor joins Salford City on loan

According to the club’s official site, Manchester United starlet D’Mani Mellor has joined League Two side Salford City on loan.

The 20-year-old has been at the United Academy since the age of eight. He made his first-team debut for United against Astana in the Europa League during the 2019/20 season.

A regular for the Under-23s, Mellor is at the age where he should be furthering his development. A move to the fourth tier of English football may prove to be the catalyst for just that should he take his chances.

Gary Bowyer’s outfit finished eighth in League Two last season with another United starlet Di’Shon Bernard among their ranks. Mellor will hopefully go one further and help the Ammies qualify for this season’s playoffs.

Mellor captained United’s Under-23s in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea and again on Tuesday night in the narrow Papa John’s Trophy defeat to Lincoln City. A new challenge now awaits him and we wish Mellor the very best.
