Borussia Dortmund are eyeing a move for Manchester United ace Diogo Dalot
According to Sky Sports, Borussia Dortmund are trying to orchestrate a move for Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot.
The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at AC Milan, returned to Manchester United’s training camp earlier this summer and was an integral part of half of their pre-season games, with the Portuguese also managing to score in the last pre-season game against Everton.
Thus, United decided to remain put with the player. However, that was not the case at the start of the summer. The Red Devils have been continually interested in signing Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid but have repeatedly failed to meet the Spanish outfit’s £34million valuation of the former Tottenham man.
Although Dalot was wanted back by AC Milan on a loan move this summer, the Old Trafford outfit’s failure to sign Trippier coupled with Dalot’s encouraging performances ensured Solskjaer that the 22-year-old can be an able backup for the club. Moreover, he has proved to be pivotal in recent weeks.
Given that both Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe have left on loan moves to Norwich City and Aston Villa respectively, it keeps Dalot as the only natural backup option at right-back. Additionally, given Alex Telles’ injury, Dalot is perhaps the only available backup option for both Aaron wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw.
The Portuguese also featured in the first-team squad as he made his way onto the bench against Southampton last weekend.

However, Borussia Dortmund are now in talks to agree on a deal for the 22-year-old, with the German giants apparently trying to sign the Portuguese on a loan plus buy option next summer.
With less than a week to go until the transfer window shuts, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be open to letting go of one of their defenders without signing a replacement.
