Transfer News: Phil Jones could complete a loan move away from Manchester United before the end of the month

According to 90min.comPhil Jones could still complete a move away from Manchester United this summer as Fulham are interested in signing the player, in what could likely be a potential loan transfer.

Jones, who has failed to feature for United since January 2020, could be on his way out of the club this summer.

The centre-back fell down the pecking order in Solskjaer’s first full season at the club (2019/20 season), as the Norwegian opted for the likes of Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Axel Tuanzebe, and Eric Bailly.

However, things have only gotten worse since then. The Red Devils have also signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid, and given that he is expected to partner Maguire in the back four, Jones was set to be given the role of a fifth-choice centre-back, behind Lindelof and Bailly.

The Englishman was also close to reuniting with former United manager David Moyes at West Ham, but with the Hammers eyeing a free transfer, that move failed to materialize.

Jones, who still has two more years left on his contract and could eat up a lot of wages in that period.

However, there has been fresh hope towards the latter stages of the transfer window as a number of Championship clubs, including Fulham have been interested in signing the 29-year-old on a loan move, according to 90min.com.

While that is the case, United might still have to pay a majority of the Englishman’s wages, even if he does complete a move to a Championship side. However, consistent game-time could do a world of good to centre-back, who needs to gain a lot of match-fitness to get back to the player he was once at United.
