Manchester United could beat PL club to the signing of Kieran Trippier
According to the Daily Telegraph (h/t The Faithful MUFC), Manchester United could pip Arsenal to the signing of Kieran Trippier this summer.
The Red Devils, who have completed the signings of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for a combined fee of over £100million, could be in the market to strengthen their right-back role as well.
The Old Trafford outfit have been keen on signing Kieran Trippier since the start of the summer, with the club also having a bid of £10million rejected in June. To that end, United went back into the market for the player in July but had their second bid of £20million rejected again by the Spanish outfit, according to The Sun (h/t Daily Mail).
However, it seems like the Red Devils could be back in for the player and have been deemed ‘favourites’ to sign the full-back, who is also interested in a move to the Manchester-based club.
Signing the Englishman could have become crucial for the club after Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe left the club on loan earlier this month. This means that the Old Trafford outfit only have Diogo Dalot and Alex Telles in the backup roles to the club’s starting full-backs in Luke Shaw & Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
However, they will be facing competition from rivals Arsenal, who are willing to make a move for the 30-year-old should Hector Bellerin leave the Emirates this summer.

The Spanish outfit currently value the full-back at a whooping £51.3million, according to AS (h/t The Faithful MUFC).
However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils could actually complete a move for the player before deadline day i.e., 31st of August.
