Transfer News: Manchester United boost as Rennes plot Eduardo Camavinga sale
According to Ouest-France (h/t The Metro), Manchester United have been handed fresh hope in their pursuit of Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga this summer.
The 18-year-old is one of the best young players on the continent and is also out of contract next year. As of yet he is yet to pen fresh terms and has attracted considerable attention from some of the top clubs on the continent.
The player for his part appears to have made it clear that his future lies elsewhere. Rennes too appear to have got the memo and according to L’Equipe (h/t The Metro) are willing to sell him for £25.5m.
Signing Camavinga would bring down the curtains to what will be an excellent summer for the Red Devils. The teenager has the potential to be a world-class player and could be a pivotal player for the club in the coming years.
Nemanja Matic is not getting any younger while Fred and Scott McTominay could use some backup over the long season. The Brazilian was also name called by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the role he played in Southampton’s goal yesterday night. Whether he will now be under the scanner remains to be seen.
The likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in the player. While £25.5m is a rather steep figure for a soon to be free agent, Camavinga’s potential could make it a worthwhile investment.
United could be landing themselves a player who will be a regular fixture in their first XI for years to come. Paying Rennes the money they seek this summer could prove to be a bargain in the long run.

Camavinga has also made his senior bow for the French national team. And that is quite the feat given the players at Les Bleus’ disposal. Under the right guidance, he could develop into one of the leading midfielders in the game.
Whether that will be at Old Trafford remains to be seen.
