Phil Jones could leave Manchester United on loan before the end of the month
According to Football League World, Phil Jones could be on his way out of Manchester United this month as the centre-back eyes a loan move.
The 29-year-old is said to be ‘considering’ loan offers from Championship clubs as it does not look like he will feature a lot for Manchester United this season.
The arrival of Raphael Varane has nearly confirmed the fact that Jones might not have a future at the club this season because the Frenchman will be expected to start alongside Harry Maguire in United’s back four.
In the case of backups in the centre-back department, the Old Trafford outfit already possess the likes of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly.
However, it looked like Solskjaer was going to keep Jones at the club as a fifth-choice centre-back but given that the English international needs considerable minutes under his belt, it would bode him well to move to a Championship club.
The 29-year-old used to feature under former manager Jose Mourinho and even signed a new four-year contract in the Portuguese’s last season at the club. However, he has fallen down the pecking order under Solskjaer while he also suffered a horrible injury at the start of 2020.

The defender only returned to training recently, trying to gain some fitness back after not playing for 18 months. The Englishman was targeted by West Ham earlier this summer as former United manager David Moyes hoped to reunite with the player at the London stadium.
However, the Hammers were angling for a free transfer for the player, and given that the 29-year-old still has two years left on his contract, they might prefer getting some financial return if the centre-back does leave. Thus, a move to a Championship club could now be on the cards for Jones.
