Manchester United in talks over new contracts for Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba
According to reputed journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are in talks to extend the contract of key midfielders Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba.
Fernandes has grown into one of Manchester United’s most important players since joining the club in January last year. The Portuguese international was integral to our runners-up finish in the Premier League and the UEFA Europa League last season.
Fernandes began the new season with a bang as well, scoring a stunning opening day hat-trick to fire Manchester United to a 5-1 victory over Leeds United last weekend.
Romano reports that extending Fernandes’ contract has been a top priority for Manchester United since last July and talks have been ongoing over a new deal. The journalist further adds that the former Sporting CP playmaker is happy to stay, giving an indication that a contract agreement might not be too far.
As for Pogba, the situation is a bit tricky. The Frenchman, who has been in fine form in 2021, has entered the final year of his contract with the club. He showed the fans what he can do when on song, as he assisted four goals vs Leeds last weekend, proving his quality and importance to the team.
However, speculations over his future refuse to go away. Nonetheless, Romano assures that Pogba will be staying at Manchester United this summer while adding that talks over a new deal are underway with agent Mino Raiola. However, an agreement is yet to be arrived at.
