David Moyes admits West Ham keen to sign Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard

During his pre-match press conference (h/t football.london), West Ham United manager David Moyes has confirmed that they remain interested in signing Jesse Lingard from Manchester United.

Lingard spent the second half of the last season on loan at West Ham after having fallen out of favour at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old made the most of his chance with the Hammers, as he went on a fine run of goalscoring form, helping the east London giants finish in the top six and qualify for the UEFA Europa League.

Back at Manchester United, Lingard’s future continues to be a topic of speculation, especially considering that his contract runs out in less than a year.

“Of course we really enjoyed having Jesse [Lingard] but Jesse is a Manchester United player and the questions are not for me but are for Manchester United.

“We enjoyed having him and if the opportunity arose for us to get Jesse then we would have an interest but in my mind, he is at Manchester United and it is not for us to discuss.”

Despite all the speculations, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has indicated that he has Lingard in his plans for the season. The 28-year-old featured in pre-season regularly, until he contracted coronavirus, which ruled him out of the Everton friendly as well as the Premier League opener against Leeds United.

With over a week left in the window, it will certainly be interesting to see if there is any late movement.
