Report: Man United’s stance regarding further reinforcements this summer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer doesn't rule out more Manchester United signings.

Manchester United unlikely to make any more additions to their squad this summer

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are unlikely to make any more additions to their squad in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a productive summer that saw them land both Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane apart from Tom Heaton. The former two will add much-needed quality to the first XI while Heaton is an inexpensive veteran who adds depth to the goalkeeping department.

United continue to be linked with a number of players as the window draws to a close. This includes Rennes wonderkid Eduardo Camavinga, Villarreal star Pau Torres and Atletico Madrid ace Kieran Trippier, among others.

According to the report, however, the chances of any more signings arriving at Old Trafford this summer appears remote. A major reason could be their inability to sell off players this summer. In fact, not a single player has left the club permanently this summer.

United suffered a loss of around £150million thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic but yet went on to splurge £115.9m on Sancho and Varane combined. The financial situation could very well prove decisive in our efforts to make further signings this summer.

Whether any potential sale could see us reinvest the amount in the squad remains to be seen. One of the players who are in demand is Jesse Lingard who enjoyed an excellent loan spell at West Ham United last season.

United have put a £25m asking price on the English international and it remains to be seen if any team will bite. Lingard’s stock has possibly never been higher and it makes for us to cash in on him.

Despite signing Sancho and Varane, the club could do with a couple of more players, especially in midfield and at right-back. A strong squad could prove to be the difference this season as we get ready to once again fight on multiple fronts.
