D’Mani Mellor promoted to training alongside Manchester United first-team stars
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United starlet D’Mani Mellor has been bumped up to the club’s first-team training by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 20-year-old, who recently made his return from an ACL injury he suffered in November, would be delighted to train alongside some of the first-team stars.
Mellor was considered as one of the best players in United’s academy alongside Mason Greenwood, who in turn, has made a lot of strides in his career.
The 20-year-old was enjoying an incredible season before he was sidelined, as he had scored four goals and provided a further six assists in 14 appearances for the United U23s.
The forward was one of the many youngsters chosen by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to travel to Astana for one of their Europa League group stage matches in 2019, which is also an indication that the Norwegian boss has known the player’s talents for a while now. Moreover, Mellor’s inclusion makes a lot of sense.
Although the youngster can gain a lot of experience from training with the first-team stars, Solskjaer could give the player some minutes on the pitch as he has done over the years with the likes of Amad Diallo, Brandon Williams, Mason Greenwood, Axel Tuanzebe, while he also afforded a lot of chances to Anthony Elanga and Teden Mengi during pre-season.

Moreover, with Marcus Rashford out with injury until October and Edinson Cavani yet to return to the fore, United could do with a young forward in their ranks.
While he may not rack up a lot of minutes, this will be a refreshing change for Mellor, who will be hoping to kickstart his career after the long-term injury.
