Manchester United fans react as Denis Law reveals he is suffering from Alzheimer’s
According to the club’s official site, Manchester United legend Denis Law has revealed that he is suffering from Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia.
The 81-year-old is one of the finest players to don the jersey for United and was loving christened ‘The King’ and ‘The Lawman’ by supporters. He spent 11 years at the club across two different spells netting 237 goals in 404 games.
He remains the only Scotsman to win the Balon d’Or and is only behind Wayne Rooney and Bobby Charlton in United’s all-time goalscorers list.
Speaking on his condition Law revealed that it has been an extremely challenging time for him and the long periods of isolation have done him little good. He however is now ready to tackle the issue head-on and will continue to work with his charity trust.
He also advocated his support to the Alzheimer’s Society’s fight against dementia in sports. He believes helping the organization attain its goals could go a long way in improving the lives of those involved with the game.
“The charity is also doing amazing work with the sports industry, with its Sport United Against Dementia campaign, which I fully support. This really could make the biggest difference to former players, players, and fans alike.”
It is unfortunate that the legendary striker is having to go through the unfortunate experience in the later years of his life. We would not wish such a situation on anyone and hope he does not experience the worst of it.
Our thoughts are with the player and his family in this tough time. We hope the club will give him many more lovely memories to cherish in the coming months. After all, he has gives us countless ones as a player.
United fans took to Twitter to express their solidarity with Law. We take a look at a few of them below.

Ah, what a shame. My boyhood hero and one of the main reasons I started to support United when we moved to Manchester from Scotland in the early 60s. Like Best and Charlton, a real legend and a unique player.
