Manchester United interested in signing Erling Haaland next summer
According to German outlet Sport1 (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United might have to pay more than expected for Erling Haaland next summer.
The Norwegian has attracted interest from several clubs this summer after his impressive performances with Dortmund last term. Since he arrived at the German club in 2020 for £15million, the 21-year-old has managed to score a monstrous 62 goals in 62 games, showcasing that he is one of the best forwards in the business currently.
However, given his performances, Dortmund slapped a £150million price tag on the player this summer to ward off any suitors, and that did do the trick as most clubs have been unwilling to break the bank for the youngster.
The Red Devils, who have completed the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund and Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for a combined fee of above £100million, might not be willing to spend another hefty amount on Haaland either.
However, United are aware that the forward has a clause in his contract that will make him available to clubs around the world for nearly €75million next summer, courtesy of which the Old Trafford outfit were confident of signing the player on a relatively cheaper fee in 2022.
While that was the case, things seem to have taken a turn now. The Norwegian’s price tag could actually increase up to €90million if ‘certain performance objectives are met by the club and the player’, according to German outlet Sport1 (h/t Manchester Evening News).

This would be a blow to the Red Devils, who might have been hoping to sign the player for a reasonable fee. Moreover, the Old Trafford outfit might also be joined by rivals Man City to sign the player next summer if they do not land Harry Kane by the end of this month.
Thus, United might have to go through some complicated negotiations next season if they are to sign the 21-year-old superstar next year.
