Paris Saint-Germain ready to offer Paul Pogba €600,000-a-week if he leaves Manchester United for free next year
According to the Independent in Ireland, Paris Saint-Germain are readying a bumper contract offer for Paul Pogba should he leave Manchester United for free next year.
The French superstar is currently in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and has shown little inclination to penning a new deal. United’s record signing, the prospect of losing him for a free in a year’s time is a sobering thought.
The 28-year-old, when on song, is one of the world’s best players. United fans caught of glimpse of it over the weekend against Leeds. While Bruno Fernandes took the plaudits for a well-earned hat-trick, Pogba ran the show and got himself four assists in the match.
The performance, if anything, appears to have emboldened United’s desire to keep hold of the player. Talks are currently ongoing and it remains to be seen if the player will eventually commit to the Theatre of Dreams.
According to the report, PSG are waiting in the wings and are ready to offer him €600,000-a-week should he move to the Parc des Princes next summer. Landing a player of Pogba’s ability on a free, especially in his prime would be mad business for the Ligue 1 side.
PSG’s offer is considerably higher than what Pogba is currently earning at Old Trafford. Given that there is no transfer fee involved, the French giants could see it as a sound investment.
While Pogba, for his part, would be keen to join Barcelona or Real Madrid, it is debatable if either team can afford him. This could very well play into PSG’s hands as they look to put together a super-team that can challenge on all fronts.
If Pogba does have his heart set to leave, he did a good job masking it at the weekend. None watching him play Leeds would have any inkling that this wasn’t a player who wasn’t completely invested in United’s future.
