Manchester United are weighing up a move for Aurelien Tchouameni this summer
According to an interview done by Duncan Castles on Reach PLC’s Transfer Window Podcast (h/t The Express), Manchester United are eyeing a transfer for Aurelien Tchouameni, and a deal could take place soon.
The midfielder was an important player for Monaco last season as he racked up 42 appearances in all competitions while he also scored 3 goals in that process. Although Chelsea were linked with the player initially, the Red Devils could also orchestrate a move for the Frenchman.
Talking on Reach PLC’s Transfer Window Podcast (h/t The Express), Duncan Castles talked about Tchouameni’s situation and how the 21-year-old is being eyed as a long-term replacement by United for Paul Pogba.
He said (h/t The Express):
“Manchester United, [Tchouameni] very much falls within their scouting remit,”
“He is an obvious fit for Manchester United if the change in midfield happens that we’ve been talking about for so long, which is that Paul Pogba doesn’t sign a new contract at Man United or is sold this summer.
“If they have that space in their squad created by Pogba, then Tchouameni is one of the options to replace”.
Castles also explained that Monaco currently value the player at £34million, but that could change before the end of the month.
The French outfit are currently facing Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League play-off tie and have lost the first leg 1-0. If the Ligue 1 side fails to overturn things in the second leg, they are likely to reduce their asking price for Tchouameni.
Alternatively, Castles also explained that if Monaco do manage to get to the group stage of the Champions League, ‘they
could retain the player until they get a big offer’.More Manchester United News:

The Red Devils could be facing the prospect of losing Paul Pogba, and signing a replacement in the meantime could be a clever decision. However, it remains to be seen if the Old Trafford outfit intensify their approach towards Tchouameni before the transfer window shuts.
