Andreas Pereira set to depart Manchester United on another loan spell

According to Globo Esporte (h/t The Mirror), Manchester United ace Andreas Pereira is closing to sealing an exit from the club with a loan move to Brazilian side Flamengo on the cards.

The midfielder has been desperate for some playing time at Old Trafford, but it does not look like the Brazilian might be afforded plenty of minutes this season.

The Red Devils already possess the likes of Scott McTominay, Fred, Nemanja Matic, Donny van de Beek, Bruno Fernandes, and Paul Pogba in their midfield line. On top of that, they have also been keen on adding another midfielder to their ranks this summer, with Atletico’s Saul Niguez, Rennes’ Eduardo Camavinga, Wolves’ Ruben Neves and Bayern Munich’s Leon Goretzka all linked with the club.

Thus, Pereira would only fall down the pecking order should he remain at the club. However, thanks to his agent Kia Joorabchian, the player might now be ready to exit the club and join Brazilian outfit Flamengo.

Joorabchian has been a pivotal figure in negotiations with Manchester United as he has been in direct contact with the club, while he has also convinced Pereira that a move to Flamengo would be a ‘positive step’

Pereira, who was a consistent figure in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad in the 2018/19 campaign, failed to feature prominently in the 2019/20 season. The midfielder eventually secured a loan move to Lazio last season as he made 33 Serie A appearances as he scored 1 goal and provided four assists in the process.

However, his exit may now be the best step for all parties. The 25-year-old may well enjoy consistent game-time while United will get a player off their wage books. Pereira could leave United as soon as next Tuesday as the Brazilian outfit hope to register him for the Copa do Brasil.
