Transfer News: Basel and Crystal Palace lead the race for Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (h/t Express), Manchester United look set to let Amad Diallo leave the club on loan in the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old joined the club from Italian giants Atalanta in January. He has since not just made his senior debut for the Red Devils but also found the back of the net. However with Jadon Sancho finally signed and Jesse Lingard back at the club, there will be more competition for places this season.
This could prove to be a blow for Diallo who will be keen to push on with his development. Sending him out on loan could help achieve just that without him having to cool his heels on the bench.
With just two weeks left in the window, two clubs, namely Basel and Crystal Palace are both leading the race for the youngster’s signature. There also appears to be interest in him from Germany, as revealed by Romano.
“I mention Basel and Crystal Palace because I am told they are the two clubs pushing to sign him. Maybe in the Premier League or maybe even the Bundesliga as German clubs are trying for Amad.”
Of the two clubs, it would appear that Basel have the edge. The player, for his part, is keen to try out his luck in different countries and could thrive in Switzerland.
Amad is ready to take his time to make a decision. He is considering his options and will make his decision once along with his family and agent. He is keen to evolve as a person and not just as a footballer.
“He wants to decide together with his agent and together with his family, he wants to be 100 per cent sure about the personal side but also about football.”
Amad missed the pre-season with United and was away with Ivory Coast at the Olympic Games. While they ultimately fell short, the youngster gave a good account of himself. If he does progress as expected, the sky is the limit.

Diallo’s best chance of regular playtime at Old Trafford, should he stay will be in the Carabao Cup. United, for their part, do not appear keen to see the player play with the Under-23s. They are ready to sanction a loan move so that Diallo may test himself at a higher level.
