Transfer News: Manchester United tracking Metz sensation Pape Matar Sarr
According to transfer news from the Daily Mail, Manchester United are among the Premier League clubs tracking the progress of Metz wonderkid Pape Matar Sarr.
The 18-year-old Sarr came through the ranks at the Generation Foot academy in his homeland of Senegal before making the switch to FC Metz in the summer last year. And, he has quickly developed into a first-team regular for the French outfit.
Last season, Sarr featured in 25 games across all competitions for Metz, finishing with four goals. The teenage midfielder has been involved in their first two Ligue 1 games of the new season as well. And, it seems like the teenage prodigy’s progress has alerted several top clubs.
Indeed, as per the report, Manchester United are just one among a number of teams in the Premier League monitoring the 18-year-old, who has also been capped twice by the Senegalese national team. The other sides looking at Sarr are the Red Devils’ arch-rivals Chelsea and Manchester City.
Manchester United, as things stand, have a solid midfield department with Paul Pogba, Fred, Scott McTominay, Donny van de Beek and Nemanja Matic all options for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
However, Pogba is in the final year of his contract, while Matic is in the final leg of his career at Old Trafford. Future-proofing the midfield unit, thus, could come in handy for the 20-time English champions, making Sarr an exciting prospect.

To that end, Manchester United are contemplating making a move for Sarr. Should they sign him, the club would loan him back to Metz for the rest of the season, the report adds, with Chelsea and Manchester City also scheming on similar lines.
Only time will tell whether Solskjaer & co. decide to pursue the teenager and deem that the transfer business for this summer is done and dusted.
