Darren Randolph urges Jesse Lingard to join West Ham United
West Ham goalkeeper, Darren Randolph, made a post on his Instagram account (h/t Manchester Evening News) urging Manchester United star, Jesse Lingard, to join him at the London-based club this summer.
Lingard was loaned to the Hammers in the second half of last season. The Englishman struggled to get starts under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and a move to the London Stadium followed.
He impressed for David Moyes’ side, scoring nine times in 16 outings before returning to the Red Devils this summer. The United academy graduate recently contracted Covid-19 before the pre-season game against Everton.
That resulted in him missing the league opener against Leeds United. But speaking in an interview after the game, Solskjaer made sure to hint at Lingard staying at the club this summer despite links with West Ham.
“Don’t forget Jesse Lingard. He has reinvented himself and he has come back the man that we know. With the quality he has, he is going to play a big part.”
Lingard to London?
That, however, hasn’t stopped Randolph from asking Lingard to join the Hammers this summer. The 34-year-old Irishman posted a black image on his Instagram story with the text:
“@JesseLingard I’ll be seeing you soon at Rush Green for training! You know you want to!”
His future at Old Trafford remains uncertain. Despite Ole’s aforementioned comments, one would struggle to think where Lingard would fit into the starting line-up with Bruno Fernandes, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, and Mason Greenwood all in the picture.

In that regard, ex-Manchester United boss David Moyes could offer a better prospect of regular starts for Lingard. And at 28, this is a pivotal time in the Englishman’s career where he should be looking for regular playing time rather than warming the bench.
