Graeme Souness refuses to praise Manchester United star Paul Pogba

Speaking on Sky Sports (h/t Express), Liverpool legend and pundit Graeme Souness has refused to praise Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba even after his stunning exploits against Leeds United.

Pogba was the star of the show alongside Bruno Fernandes as Manchester United thrashed Leeds 5-1 at Old Trafford in their first match of the 2021/22 Premier League.

The Frenchman laid on four assists and was simply phenomenal, showing the world-class quality that he possesses. Despite the stunning display, Souness has refused to hail the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

The Liverpool legend is often seen being critical of Pogba while on punditry duties. And, when asked as to what he thought of the Manchester United midfielder’s latest display, he just shrugged it off, saying that such performances should be the norm for a player of his value.

“You expect that from a £100million player.”

Pogba might not have always been the most consistent performer for Manchester United since returning to Old Trafford in 2016. But his display against Leeds United was superlative. And Souness dismissing it in the manner he did comes off as bitter.

Pogba’s contract situation remains unresolved, with the midfielder now in the final year of his deal at Manchester United. It remains to be seen if he is willing to commit to a new contract with the Red Devils or decides to move on, on a free transfer yet again.

But, if he keeps performing the way he did on Saturday, Manchester United will be in with a very good chance of winning silverware this season.
