Boost for Manchester United as Paul Pogba hints at Old Trafford stay

Ralf Rangnick gives ultimatum to Paul Pogba over his contract at Manchester United.

Paul Pogba might have dropped a hint that he is staying put at Manchester United this summer

Manchester United star Paul Pogba is on his day one of the best midfielders in world football. There is little doubt that when on pomp, he is a genuine game-changer and can win matches on his own.

After all, it is just those qualities that saw the Red Devils smash their club-record fee to land him in 2016. While he has had more misses than hits, the tide appears to be taking a positive trend this year.

Pogba was among our best players since the turn of the year and scored key goals in both the league and Europe. It saw us put up an unlikely title challenge, even briefly going top of the league in February. Unfortunately, the Frenchman suffered an injury that all but took the wind out of our sails.

But then, those few weeks showcased just how key he is to our efforts of winning a 21st league title. The 28-year-old has just a year to go on his current deal and where his future lies is a topic that needs considerable attention.

For now, the player is in Manchester and is preparing for our season opener against Leeds United this weekend. He recently went on to Twitter and posted a picture of himself all pumped up for the new season. It certainly lacked the look of a player who is seeking a future elsewhere.

Pogba’s post was enough to excite a number of United fans who felt he might have given them a secret hint on the future. We certainly hope that is the case. Having a Pogba ready and raring to go could make the difference between ending up as Champions or also-rans.

United have already landed Jadon Sancho and are on the verge of completing a move for Raphael Varane. If Pogba stays, he will arguably be part of the best side the Red Devils have seen in many a year. The squad certainly has potential and the personnel needed to win major silverware.

Whether he fancies the challenge or rather seek his fortunes elsewhere remains to be seen.
