Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United can win the Premier League this season

According to The Guardian, Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has demanded maximum effort and sacrifice from his players as they look to end the eight-year wait for a Premier League title.

The Red Devils have not won the championship since the departure of legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013. The likes of David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho all ended up empty-handed despite considerable faith and resources being placed at their disposal.

Solskjaer, who is now set to enter his third full season as United manager, is keen to change that. The Norwegian has taken us close to winning silverware on multiple occasions, only to fall short either at the semifinal stage or the final. Having seen his squad suitably reinforced this summer, it is no wonder that he is optimistic about his team’s chances in the upcoming campaign.

Solskjaer is hopeful ahead of the new season.

“Of course these boys can, with a maximum effort and maximum sacrifice.”

The Red Devils finished second last season, an improvement over their third-placed finish the season before. While progress has been undeniable, we were well adrift of city rivals Manchester City who won the title at a canter. Both Liverpool and Chelsea also had mixed seasons that largely aided us in ending up as runners-up.

Solskjaer believes the upcoming season will be a close-fought one and expect the three aforementioned teams to fight United for Premier League glory. There is little doubt that both Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel will be hungry for more success. Despite our reinforcements, beating them to the top spot will be no mean feat.

“It’s been City and Liverpool fighting it out for a while but us and Chelsea have spent well and should look at ourselves

as potential challengers.”

Chelsea and Liverpool may not have spent much this summer but they remain formidable outfits who can beat anyone on their day. The Reds’ defensive trio is back in training and Ibrahima Konate adds further depth to what was a depleted area of the team from last season.

Chelsea looks set to land Romelu Lukaku while Manchester City have already gone big on Jack Grealish. We have definitely gotten stronger but then so too have our rivals. To think it would be a cakewalk against them is a child’s folly. Having been backed well, the onus is now on Solskjaer to deliver.
