Raphael Varane set to fly to Manchester United to complete medical
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano (h/t Manchester Evening News), Raphael Varane is set to have his medical for Manchester United soon as he looks to complete his move from Real Madrid.
The Frenchman was supposed to travel earlier this week but faced visa troubles, according to the Telegraph (h/t The Mirror). The 28-year-old is now set to fly to Manchester United, post which, the player will have to be quarantined first as per the Covid-19 rules and regulations. The player will then be allowed to complete his medical and sign for the club, in a deal which is touted to rise up to £43million with add-ons.
Manchester United agreed personal terms with the player last month itself but were in negotiations with Real Madrid over a transfer fee for Varane, who only had a year remaining on his current deal at the Spanish outfit.
The French international’s signing has been talked about as a statement of intent with the player being labelled a proven winner by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has also hinted towards stylistic changes which could be made due to the player’s signing. Speaking to the club website (h/t Manchester Evening News), Solskjaer said:
“First of all, the club has shown ambition with getting one of the most respected centre-backs and one of the most winning centre-backs in the world. With him in, we’ve got different ways of playing of course, and I can see different ways of playing with Raphael.”
