Transfer News: Manchester United pushing for Kieran Trippier deal
According to transfer news from Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United have taken the initiative to sign Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid this summer.
The Red Devils are interested in bringing the former Tottenham and Burnley player to Old Trafford this summer as they look to bolster their defensive options. United are keen on providing some competition to Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the right-back role.
While Atletico Madrid were said to be relaxed over the future of the full-back, they now need to wait and find out what happens to the England international as United are ‘insisting’ on a deal this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sport Witness).
Trippier was an integral part of the Atletico team that won the La Liga last season as he provided 6 assists in 28 league appearances, while he also featured for England at the Euros, where they eventually lost to Italy.
The Englishman had also informed his England teammates that he was interested in a move to Old Trafford this summer. Additionally, United also had an opening bid of £10million rejected by Atletico Madrid this summer.
Trippier’s versatility and ability to provide cover in multiple positions makes him a good option for United, and with the likes of Brandon Williams and Axel Tuanzebe likely to leave on loan deals, Solskjaer could feel the need to bring in necessary backup.

The Red Devils, who have already signed the likes of Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho, and the soon to be confirmed Raphael Varane, are trying to add Trippier to their ranks as they look to conclude a successful transfer window.
However, with just over three weeks left until deadline day, United will have to move fast if they hope to see Trippier play for them this season.
