Victor Lindelof targetting new role at Manchester United
Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof is said to be ‘very happy’ at the club and wants to take up the role of a leader in the new season, as per an interview done by the defender on the club’s official website.
The Swede joined the Red Devils from Benfica during the summer of 2017 and has since gone on to don the United jersey 161 times, scoring three goals and providing a clutch of assists, most memorably when he set up a couple of goals for Marcus Rashford during the previous campaign.
Since the end of the tournament, the Swede was on holiday with his loved ones until he reported for first-team training at the club’s pre-season training camp in Scotland.
Lindelof was caught talking about his life at Manchester United and his future in an episode of the club’s regular news bulletin, United Daily (h/t ManUtd.com). He expressed his happiness at playing for United and mentioned how he is now seeking to be one of the leaders in the squad:
“Yes I’m coming into my fifth season and this is my home. I’m very, very happy here, as are my family. Of course, I want to take that role and become more of a leader and fight to help the younger guys to improve as well. I think it’s good in a team when you have a few players who can do that – to try to speak and demand a little bit more from the players.
Lindelof loving it in Manchester
It has been 4 years since Lindelof left Lisbon for Manchester. And in that time, the versatile defender has seemingly adjusted well as he talked about how the club has helped him adjust well to a new setting.
“I try to do my bit there. Ever since I arrived it’s felt like home and everyone at the club has been great to me and my family. It’s my fifth season, it really feels home and I’m very, very pleased to be here.”
