Paul Pogba warned over the Glazers’ Manchester United exit policy amidst refusal of contract extension
According to an interview done by former Manchester United manager David Moyes with beinSports (h/t Mirror), Paul Pogba needs to be cautious about his future at the club amidst transfer links.
Pogba, who has refused a contract extension at Manchester United, only has a year left on his current contract, with the Frenchman being able to leave on a free transfer next summer.
However, Paris Saint-Germain are already exploring the possibility of signing the player this summer as they are aware that they might face competition from other clubs once the player is available on a free transfer.
While it is believed that talks are still going on for a new contract at Manchester United for the Frenchman, former Manchester United manager David Moyes has made it clear that an exit for Pogba may not be so simple.
Back in 2013, in a similar incident, Wayne Rooney wanted to leave the Red Devils when Moyes arrived at the club. Years later, the Scottish manager revealed how the Glazers stamped their authority after Rooney made his decision to leave. Moyes told beinSports (h/t Mirror):
“I have to say I learnt a lesson a little bit from the owners of Manchester United at that time. I think Wayne eventually put a transfer request in, and the owners of Manchester United turned around and said, ‘You don’t think we listen to transfer requests? We’ve had far better players, many better players put in transfer requests. We tell them when we want them to leave Manchester United”
Thus, this serves as a warning for Paul Pogba, with the Glazers unlikely to cave in to his demands or any pressure placed on the club. While Pogba could still leave the club, it remains to be seen how his exit will take place given the exit policy of the Glazers.
