Kieran Trippier could still sign for Manchester United this summer

Manchester United should be able to get the deal over the line for Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to Dean Jones of Eurosport (h/t Express).

While talking on The Football Terrace Podcast (h/t Express), Dean Jones talked about how he believed that United will sign the England right-back this summer.

“I honestly think this deal will be done. Trippier is confident that Atletico Madrid are working on finding a replacement for him and as soon as they are far enough down the road that that’s been clinched, he should be able to negotiate with United”.

The Atletico Madrid star has been on the radar of the Red Devils all summer, as the club are trying to add more depth and quality to their squad. Trippier, who won the La Liga with the Spanish outfit last season, made 35 appearances in all competitions while he also provided 6 assists in the process.

Trippier also featured for England at the Euros, as he helped the Three Lions reach the final of the competition, where they eventually lost to Italy.

Moreover, United are also interested in the former Tottenham and Burnley man because of his versatility to play as a full-back on both sides, while the Red Devils also believe that he can provide some much-needed competition to current right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The former Crystal Palace man’s strengths at the back are unquestionable, but still has a lot to learn going forward.

Should Trippier sign for United, he would become the club’s fourth signing this summer, after the arrivals of Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho and the soon-to-be-confirmed Raphael Varane as the Red Devils prepare to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
