Manchester United and PSG still some way apart on Paul Pogba negotiations
According to the Mirror, Paul Pogba might end up staying at Manchester United this summer, but PSG are hoping to use their relationship with the player’s agent to sign the player.
Pogba, who is in the final year of his contract, has refused a contract extension at the club, courtesy of which PSG are trying to sign the 28-year-old this summer. However, the clubs are ‘far-off’ on the valuation of the player.
According to Le Parisien (h/t Mirror), United are currently demanding a fee north of £63million, even though they would prefer something in the range of £85million for the Frenchman. With only a year remaining on Pogba’s contract, PSG do not want to go anywhere near this figure, with the Parisians ready to pay around £50million for the 28-year-old.
Although United are trying to regain the £89million they paid for Paul Pogba in 2016, it would be a difficult task to do so, given that the Frenchman has only a year left on his current deal.
However, PSG would be aware that Real Madrid and Juventus are long-term admirers of the player, and if the Frenchman does become available on a free transfer next summer, they would try to swoop in on signing the player. Thus, the Parisians would be interested in signing the player this summer and they are hoping that their relationship with Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola will help in smoothening this deal.
Raiola has had several clients at the Paris club over the years, including the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mitchell Bakker, Marco Verratti, Moise Keane, with Gianluigi Donnarumma becoming the latest profile client of the Italian to join PSG.
Thus, PSG are hoping that they can agree on a deal with Raiola, even if they fail to match the valuation of Man United. This, in turn, could force the Red Devils to lower the transfer fee of the Frenchman and make a decision over his future. Only time will tell where Paul Pogba will play his football after the end of the summer transfer window.
