Transfer News: Saul Niguez’s representatives to fly to UK amidst Mancester United links
According to Mirror (h/t The Daily Mail), Manchester United and Liverpool target Saul Niguez could have his future sorted out in the coming week as his agents are set to fly to the UK to seal a move.
The two Premier League giants are interested in the Spanish midfielder. However, the Red Devils are said to be in ‘pole position’ to sign Saul, who has been on Atletico Madrid’s books since he was 14.
The report mentions that Saul’s next stage in his career is set to be in England as Los Colchoneros have given Saul’s team the go-ahead to seek a move elsewhere. Saul may actually cost a fair amount.
While he has a release clause of an astonishing £128million, a fee in the region of £40million seems ‘more realistic’ considering the ‘severe’ financial strain that Atletico are under right now.
Manchester United chase Saul
United are perhaps better placed to sign Saul because of the uncertainty surrounding Paul Pogba. United are expecting an approach from Paris Saint-Germain for the French international, and Saul could be his replacement.
Liverpool, on the other hand, may have to sell another midfielder if they are to bring in the Spanish international (h/t The Daily Mail). They do, however, have a potential space in their starting XI after Georginio Wijnaldum’s departure.
Saul is quite versatile and can play as a right midfielder and also as a central midfielder. At 26, he can give his peak years to whichever club he chooses to play for in the near future.
