Transfer News: Aston Villa given go-ahead for Manchester United starlet Axel Tuanzebe
According to transfer news from Birmingham Live, Aston Villa have been given the all-clear to sign Axel Tuanzebe from Manchester United. Villa are low on centre-back options after the departure of Bjorn Engels and want their former man. United have also made it clear that Tuanzebe will head out on loan.
The 23-year-old is a product of the United youth academy. Despite having made his first-team debut in 2017, Tuanzebe hasn’t been able to carve out a regular spot for himself in the side. Tuanzebe had a couple of impressive loan stints away at Aston Villa. But things at United have not worked out.
Even when he has been fit, the form of first-choice defenders Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof has kept him out of the side. Now with the addition of Raphael Varane, Tuanzebe is further down the pecking order and will be allowed to leave on loan.
Villa have shown interest in bringing their former star back to the club after the departure of Bjorn Engels. It has left Ezri Konsa, Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings as the only options for Deal Smith. He wants to add Tuanzebe in a bid to keep things competitive at the back.

As talented as Tuanzebe is, there is a good chance he might not make the grade at United. United are likely to go into this season with Maguire and Varane as first-choice defenders. There are Lindelof and Bailly to cover them, leaving Tuanzebe in the cold. With interest from Villa, United would be wise to accept a deal.
