Injury News: Manchester United confirm Marcus Rashford will undergo shoulder surgery
According to The Athletic (subscription required), Manchester United have confirmed that Marcus Rashford will undergo surgery for his shoulder injury in what comes across as news that will be a blow for Solskjaer. The forward will get operated on his shoulder after it had been nagging him over the last season. He will be expected to miss the next three months as a result of that.
Marcus Rashford looked a pale shadow of himself by the time the campaign ended. His injury problem on the shoulder has been nagging him since November last year. It was only through some good communication and management that Solskjaer could use him through the entire season.
He was often hooked off from games close to the hour mark or given a cameo in some games to ease the workload. However, it was clear by the end of the season that he had to go ahead with the surgery. He had to keep managing his injury like that through painkillers and inhibited movement.
Rashford to go ahead with surgery
The 23-year-old underwent a scan to reveal a muscle tear on his shoulder. The England forward then held talks with Solskjaer and the medical staff over the best possible solution. Finally, it was confirmed that he will undergo surgery to fully get rid of the problem, ruling him out for three months. United also provided a statement on the same.
“Following consultation between Marcus, the manager, club medical staff and specialists, Marcus will undergo surgery imminently to resolve his shoulder injury. He will now focus on his rehabilitation in order to return as soon as possible.”
