Transfer News: Di’shon Bernard set to join Hull City on loan
According to transfer news from Independent, Di’Shon Bernard is set to join Hull City on a season-long loan. The Manchester United academy star is currently with the first-team playing the preseason games but will now get a chance to shine in the Championship.
The 19-year-old switched to the Manchester United youth setup from Chelsea in 2017. He has made 27 appearances for our U18s and 25 appearances for the U23s across all competitions (h/t Transfermarkt). Bernard made his senior debut in the 2019/20 campaign, starting in the Europa League contest against Astana.
Bernard did not feature for United’s senior side last season as he went out on loan to Salford City. He went on to make 29 appearances in League 2 scoring and assisting twice. His impressive showings prompted Solskjaer to hand him games in the preseason with most of the first team out on holiday.
He featured twice against Derby and QPR and despite the talent, he looked a bit shaky. Nonetheless, a season-long loan deal has been arranged and it will be a step up for Bernard at Hull City in the Championship.

At just 20, Bernard has a lot of time to develop his game away from United. The first-team is too crowded in the defence and there was no chance of him breaking in ahead of the likes of Maguire, Varane, Lindelof and Bailly. For now, he will get a chance to test himself in the rigours of the Championship.
