Official: Di’Shon Bernard extends deal and moves on loan to Hull City

According to the club’s official site, Manchester United starlet Di’Shon Bernard has left for Hull City on loan after extending his deal. The Manchester United academy star is currently with the first-team playing the pre-season games but will now get a chance to shine in the Championship.

The 20-year-old switched to the Manchester United youth setup from Chelsea in 2017. He has made 27 appearances for our U-18s and 25 appearances for the U-23s across all competitions (h/t Transfermarkt). Bernard made his senior debut in the 2019/20 campaign, starting in the Europa League contest against Astana.

Bernard did not feature for United’s senior side last season as he went out on loan to Salford City. He went on to make 29 appearances in League Two, scoring and assisting twice. His impressive showings prompted Solskjaer to hand him games in the pre-season, with most of the first-team out on holiday.

Bernard has extended his stay with United

He featured twice against Derby and QPR and looked decent. Bernard has now extended his stay at United for the long term. However, he will be heading on loan to Hull City for this coming season as he makes the step up to the Championship.

At just 20, Bernard has a lot of time to develop his game away from United. The first-team is too crowded in the defence. There was no chance of him breaking in ahead of the likes of Maguire, Varane, Lindelof and Bailly. With a new long term deal, he is likely to return to United and then the club can take a call over his future.
