Manchester United players working hard to convince Paul Pogba to stay on at the club
According to The Sun, Manchester United stars are busy behind the scenes in an effort to convince Paul Pogba to stay put at the club.
The French international is currently in the final year of his contract and looks set to leave Old Trafford this summer. The Red Devils could lose him for free in a year’s time, a situation they are unwilling to comprehend. If he fails to pen an extension, it would make sense for the club to cash in on him in this window.
Pogba has often flattered to deceive in United colours since his well-publicized return to the club in 2016. He has, however, upped his game since the turn of the year and was arguably one of our top performers in the 2020/21 season.
With the likes of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane alongside him, Pogba will be part of a strong squad capable of challenging for the title. Losing him, however, will leave United with a void to fill in the middle of the park. The other players including Marcus Rashford are doing their bit to ensure the player commits his future to the club.
“Rashford and several others have been doing everything to convince Pogba to stay.”
The United squad is well aware of the Frenchman’s abilities and believe he would be a world-class asset in the seasons to come. Still 28, he is in the prime of his career and can become a major gamechanger for us in the seasons to come.
“They believe the team would lose a key man if he goes as he’s seen as a genuine world-class talent among the squad.”
Pogba is also a popular figure away from the pitch. The 28-year-old is a role model for the young talents at Old Trafford who look up to him for inspiration. It is fair to say that United will find it difficult to replace Pogba with a player with similar traits.
“He’s also a leader in the dressing room — one of the players the younger ones look up to when the team is struggling.”
Pogba’s French international teammate, Raphael Varane is close to joining him at United. Whether that will be enough to convince him to stay put remains to be seen.

French giants Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer around £40m for Pogba and the player is also interested in making the move to the Parc des Princes. Pogba earns around £290,000-a-week at United and any contract extension will surely improve his wages. Already one of our highest earners, he has shown little on a consistent basis to suggest he is deserving of a more lucrative payday.
